As part of my journey, I have used the 40-day Sadhana practice to focus on areas of my life I need to change, one of these being my weight. (I had been prescribed medication that would initially increase my appetite, and I would be taking this for a long period of time, and there is an increased risk of diabetes). I was overweight and my weight was increasing so I reviewed my lifestyle and made suitable healthy food changes. By the time I started the 40-day Sadhana practice in January I had a plan in place. I was already doing Yoga with Alison 2 or 3 times a week and had noticed the positive effects.

Kundalini Yoga

40-DAY SADHANA YOGA REVIEW 19-03-21

I use Yoga practice to focus on my weight loss. Every morning the routine enables me to consider and focus on the day ahead. I now focus on one day at a time. Over the period of 11 weeks, from January to today, I have lost 17lbs. During the first 40-day Sadhana practice I lost 10 lbs. I have been losing between 1 and 1.5 lbs each week. I am on my second 40-day Sadhana practice and my journey continues. I am now in the upper end of a healthy BMI range. I was previously in the obese area. My journey continues and I am so grateful for the positive experience. Thank you Alison.

My experience of the 40 sadhana has been fulfilling and energising. Although it has been challenging at times, luckily for me these times were few. It has enabled me to focus on areas of my life that I needed to change and it is helping me heal.. Gradually as the days past my body was able to rise to the challenge. I know I can do now what I could not do at the start. It is so rewarding to feel and experience these positive changes. I feel more relaxed and content. Review from a previous 40day yogi

I came on retreat wanting to perfect my yoga positions and to be able 'to do them right'. I am now leaving the Yoga retreat with the freedom to express myself. Alison made me understand about the freedom of yoga and that the 'right posture' is where it feels right for me....I can be free in my practice, I can listen to my body and heart and it will show me what is right. I now understand that yoga is not about a set structure or positions but is about expression and freedom which allows my body and mind to move and relax to my own needs.

Alison is such a committed teacher. All her classes have been live throughout lockdown. She is always available for advice which has such a strong Ayurvedic influence. Her classes are so beautifully planned with music, breathing, meditations and such interesting quotes for the day, alongside the usual Kundalini yoga warm ups and kriyas, leaves me so uplifted and ready for my day! Having practiced Kundalini yoga with Alison over the years and with each 40day practice, I have noticed how this has helped me with changing life patterns in my very busy family/work life!

Doing the 40day Sadhana really helped me put a few things right within me and gave me clarity and truth about myself. The discipline of having to get up in the mornings, was a sense of achievement and complete the practice each day which made each day start on a positive note. Funny how you can still get some of the energy from other people within the group even via ZOOM!
